Cycling following the route of the old Pinxo Train.

The old railway lines that used to link towns and their industry are today a carefully looked after network of greenways so that, from your bicycle, you can discover unknown places, from the heart of the Girona Pyrenees to the luminous Costa Brava. The greenways have been adapted, with very gentle climbs and different levels of difficulty, so that you can get to know an exceptional diversity of places.

This is the Tren Pinxo Route between Banyoles and Girona. This greenway connects the Gironès region with the Pla de l'Estany. There are almost 30 kilometers of greenway that, from Banyoles, cross the municipalities and villages of Porqueres, Cornellà del Terri, Palol de Revardit, Sant Julià de Ramis, Sarrià de Ter and Girona. This route also connects with the sections of the Carrilet I Route (Girona-Olot), the Carrilet II Route (Girona-Sant Feliu de Guíxols) and the Ter Route (Girona-La Gola del Ter).

The route brings us up close to landscapes with unique natural elements. In the initial section it follows the Terri river and later the Ter river.

The Pinxo Train greenway is inspired by the old train route that started from Palamós and linked to Girona and Banyoles. The second part of the route was used by the train known as the Pinxo, very popular among locals. The current greenway recovers some parts of the train track, and much of it is new tracks close to the old tracks, now beneath the asphalt of the C-66.
