A trip to the Romanesque Past

Loop route with 49 km.

From Can Xargay we go towards Banyoles following the greenway located next to the house. We will pass by the Banyoles lake and we will ascend towards the Pla de Martís (if we are lucky that there has been a moderate rainy period, we will be able to see the Espolla lake full of water). We will cross the quiet Pla de Martís and we'll arrive at the Isla del Fluvià Nature Reserve. We cross the bridge and head towards Fares and Besalú.

Attention: The Gloria storm (January 2020) took away the bridge from the Fluvià river and therefore, as of 04-25-2021, the bridge has not yet been restored. However, you can arrive to the Natural Reserve of the Island of Fluvià.
