The 100th edition of the Catalonia Cycling Tour
Today, Tuesday 23 March, the 100th edition of the cycling tour in Catalonia is in Banyoles. This is an individual time trial stage, starting and ending in Banyoles. It is one of the main novelties of the 100th edition of the Cycling Tour.
175 cyclists take part in 25 professional teams, 19 of which are part of the highest World category (UCI WorldTeam) and 6 of the continental professional category (UCI ProTeam). In this way, the elite of world cycling has confirmed their presence, such as Richard Carapaz (winner of the 2019 Giro d'Italia and second in the 2020 Tour of Spain), Chris Froome (winner of four Tours de France), Peter Sagan (winner of three consecutive World Cups), Alejandro Valverde (world champion in 2018 and three-time winner of the Tour), Marc Hirschi (prize for combativeness of the last Tour de France), Enric Mas (fifth in the last Tour de France) or the Catalans Marc Soler and David de la Cruz, among others.
The route is 18.5km, leaving Banyoles towards Fontcoberta by the Carretera de Vilavenut, and from Melianta reaching the Draga pavilion from where the Volta a l’Estany will begin. From there you will go to La Puda and, this time, you will pass by Puig d’en Colomer.
